Goniaea vocans, Slender gumleaf grasshopper

Swan Coastal Plain, Perth, Western Australia

The nymphs of grasshoppers belonging to this genus closely resemble dried gum leaves, giving them excellent camouflage in leaf litter. Adults retain excellent camouflage colours, but with wings they do not resemble the gum leaf shape as seamlessly as their nymphs.
